Season nine benefits from a cast that snapped back into shape after one season off. A familiar face's return gave the group enough relational depth to produce friction without manufacturing it, and the show leaned into that depth — using Maui for the season's most concentrated stretch and running a recurring structural comedy thread through the Atlanta material. Cynthia Bailey's marriage played out visibly on camera. After season eight's transitional quiet, this is the show remembering what it does best.
