01The take

The group trips land.

The group trips land. The cast is doing the work the setting asks of it.
02The shape of the season

Two countries, one season.

A new cast member integrates well, and the season's international legs give RHOBH some of its most visually distinctive material. Hong Kong and Dubai are more demanding backdrops than a return trip to a European spa town — the cast has to operate without the familiar social infrastructure of home, and the pressure reads on screen. The cast combination feels settled here in ways the immediately preceding seasons didn't quite manage. Solid established-era television.

03Where it sits in the canon

The #08 slot.

Slot #08 of 15 in the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Editor's Canon. A new cast member integrates well, and the season's international legs give RHOBH some of its most visually and socially distinctive material. Hong Kong and Dubai are more demanding backdrops than a return trip to a European hotel — the cast has to operate without the familiar social infrastructure of home, and the pressure reads on screen. The ensemble is functioning as a unit here in ways the immediately preceding seasons didn't quite manage, and the format's confidence in what it is doing comes through in the editing. Solid established-era television that earns its position.
