Season one earns the top slot by default — it's the only entry so far — but it also introduces a format that would barely need to change across the seasons that followed. Eight strangers share a house steps from the Seaside Heights boardwalk for one summer, and the show trusts the ensemble to generate its own energy rather than manufacturing it. The gym-tanning-laundry rhythm becomes shorthand almost immediately, proof the cast understood the assignment before the cameras even rolled. The confrontational chemistry that would define the franchise is already fully present here, unfiltered and specific to this exact group of eight. Everything the format built on originates in this debut.
