Below Deck Mediterranean launched with Captain Sandy Yawn off the coast of Montenegro — Kotor Bay's stonewalled port towns and tight anchorages giving the spinoff a European visual register the Caribbean parent didn't have. The season assembled its format live: Sandy establishing command authority, the crew hierarchy sorting itself under pressure, charter guests providing the external friction that reveals character. Rough at the edges in the way origin runs always are, and necessary for everything that followed.
