Slot #01 of 29 in the Bachelor Editor's Canon. The season that reset the ceiling. Before Paris, The Bachelor was a Southern California compound and a slow walk to a limousine. After Paris, the franchise knew it could be a passport stamp. An ER doctor takes the lead, the city does cinematic work the mansion never could, and the nine-episode runway is the longest the show had tried to that point. Chris Harrison's introductions tighten up. The cocktail parties get charged differently when the next morning is a boat on the Seine. Every international season that followed is a footnote to this one.
