Season 9

The reset. After the family experiment, the format snapped back to eleven two-person teams and a global route — out of Denver and across Brazil, central Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East. CBS moved the hour to Wednesday for the spring. The casting returns to the archetypes the show had built its audience on, and Phil Keoghan greets pit stops on four continents. The race feels like the race again.

The #09 slot.

Slot #09 of 38 in the Amazing Race Editor's Canon. Season 9 is the reset, and the canon rewards it for landing cleanly. After the family experiment the format snapped back to eleven two-person teams and a global route — out of Denver and across Brazil, central Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East. CBS moved the hour to Wednesday for the spring of 2006. The casting returns to the archetypes the show had built its audience on, and the editing rediscovers the airport-to-airport rhythm the Family Edition had crowded out. Phil Keoghan greets pit stops on four continents. The canon places it ninth because the reset works, even where the season does not invent anything new on top.
