Slot #10 of 38 in the Amazing Race Editor's Canon. Season 4 is the founding-era show running comfortably inside its established lane. The route left Santa Monica in late spring and ran through the South Pacific, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent before climbing into Western Europe. CBS aired the outing as a summer-shoulder run, which kept the audience leaning in week to week. The casting trusts the romantic pairings the show had been building toward — couples at every stage of their relationships — and the editing follows that friction honestly across the long-haul legs. Phil Keoghan keeps the pace honest. The canon places it tenth because the season is competent without being distinctive.
