Two strong newcomers — Heather Thomson and Carole Radziwill — join an established cast and shift the register. Radziwill in particular arrived with an editorial sensibility the show hadn't seen: she watched the room with a journalist's attention. The result is the most textured season of the early run. Manhattan feels real here, not like a set. The format sustains across its full episode count in a way it rarely manages.
