The Fresh Start.
Five strangers in a city that needed reintroduction. The reboot's first word.
A rhythm worth tracking.
Season fourteen is the reboot's premise more than its proof. A new cast had to earn the franchise's identity without the original run's accumulated history behind them. The five newcomers are individually interesting and Manhattan gives them material, but the season has the energy of a pilot stretched across twenty episodes — finding cast chemistry, establishing what RHONY looks like in a different register. The Anguilla trip provides a setting test. The foundation is laid here rather than the building.
The #14 slot.
Slot #14 of 15 in the Real Housewives of New York City Editor's Canon. The seasons on either side show what I ranked it against.
