The Reconfiguration

01The take

The Reconfiguration.

The show absorbs a near-complete roster change and keeps moving. That's harder than it sounds.
02The shape of the season

A rhythm worth tracking.

The Manzo family's exit after season five is the biggest structural change the franchise had faced. Dina Manzo's return offers one thread of continuity; three entirely new Housewives supply the fresh energy. The reconfigured cast hasn't settled into its own chemistry yet, and a publicly reported legal situation hangs over the season's atmosphere without the show being able to engage it directly. A transitional season that earns its place by holding the format together through a difficult pivot.

03Where it sits in the canon

The #09 slot.

Slot #09 of 14 in the Real Housewives of New Jersey Editor's Canon. The seasons on either side show what I ranked it against.
