No anchors left to hold the center.
The anchors leave, and the reset resets again.
Cast expands to eight Housewives.
Season seventeen completes a second consecutive reset. Kandi Burruss and Kenya Moore, the anchors who steadied season sixteen's rebuild, are gone — Burruss by choice, Moore not brought back. Porsha Williams, Phaedra Parks, Drew Sidora, Shamea Morton Mwangi, Angela Oakley, and Kelli Ferrell return around two additions, K. Michelle and Pinky Cole, each arriving with a public profile of her own. Scotland supplies the stretch abroad. Seventeen episodes test whether a roster with zero returning anchors can hold the center.
The #16 slot.
Slot #16 of 17 in the Real Housewives of Atlanta Editor's Canon. Season seventeen loses both of season sixteen's anchors in one move — the first time the franchise has opened a season with zero returning continuity at all. What keeps it off the absolute floor is who replaced them: K. Michelle and Pinky Cole each arrive with an established public presence of her own, closer to the season three or four pattern of additions who bring their own social register than to season eight's mismatched fit. Scotland gives the season a genuine international anchor point even as the cast itself has none. Sixteenth is the honest slot — a reset the show survives without yet proving it.
