United Tastes of America.
A strong regional premise that gives way to a standard individual competition once the teams dissolve.
A rhythm worth tracking.
MasterChef: United Tastes of America sorts twenty home cooks into four US regions — West, Northeast, Midwest, and South — for team challenges with real regional cooking identity. The premise is genuine; the structure dissolves at midseason when the teams break up and the competition reverts to individual play. The back half runs on its own terms, but the organizing concept is gone. The season is two acts with one title.
The #11 slot.
Slot #11 of 16 in the MasterChef Editor's Canon. The seasons on either side show what I ranked it against.
