Aired summer 2015 · Tosi joins, Elliot exits

The New Panel

Season six is a transitional year. Graham Elliot exits and Christina Tosi steps in, giving Ramsay a new creative foil and the show a pastry perspective it hadn't carried before. Twenty episodes run the familiar format while the new three-judge chemistry settles.

01The take

The New Panel.

A panel overhaul in motion — the format holds steady while the judging dynamic rebuilds.
02The shape of the season

A rhythm worth tracking.

Season six is honest about what it is: a year of transition. Christina Tosi's arrival brings a distinct pastry sensibility to the judging table, and the format absorbs the change without breaking stride. Graham Elliot's exit closes the founding era's original lineup. Twenty episodes run the Mystery Box and Elimination Test structure cleanly, and the home-cook bench is capable. The new panel chemistry is still forming, which keeps the season from reaching the heights of the founding era's best runs.

03Where it sits in the canon

The #09 slot.

Slot #09 of 16 in the MasterChef Editor's Canon. The seasons on either side show what I ranked it against.
