Generations.
A generational gimmick that works better as a team-formation device than as a sustained theme.
A rhythm worth tracking.
MasterChef: Generations groups twenty home cooks by generation — Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z — and runs them through team challenges before the cohorts dissolve and individual competition takes over. The generational sorting produces some early culinary contrast, and a restaurant takeover challenge midseason stands out. But the generational theme exhausts its editorial value before the individual phase begins, and the back half runs without a distinguishing premise.
The #13 slot.
Slot #13 of 16 in the MasterChef Editor's Canon. The seasons on either side show what I ranked it against.
