01The take

Season 6.

The biggest cast the format had run, on a brand-new streaming home, with a side ladder giving eliminated queens a way back in.
02The shape of the season

A rhythm worth tracking.

Season 6 brings the largest All Stars cast yet — thirteen returning queens — to the format's new streaming home on Paramount+. Lip Sync Assassin returns from the prior cycle, then tightens partway through: only the challenge winner stays safe, and everyone else becomes vulnerable regardless of placement. A new side ladder, RuDemption, lets each eliminated queen lip sync the reigning champion for a shot at re-entry. RuPaul Charles hosts twelve episodes.

03Where it sits in the canon

The #08 slot.

Slot #08 of 10 in the RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Editor's Canon. Season 6 takes the Lip Sync Assassin format Season 5 introduced and stacks new ideas on top of it. Thirteen returning queens — the largest All Stars cast to that point — arrive on Paramount+, the franchise's new streaming home. Partway through the season, the rules tighten again: only the week's challenge winner stays safe, and everyone else becomes vulnerable regardless of how they scored. A new side ladder, RuDemption, lets each newly eliminated queen lip sync the reigning champion for a shot at re-entry. That's a lot of format ideas for one cycle to carry, and the season mostly manages it. The canon ranks it eighth for real ambition that reads more as refinement than reinvention.

04What to watch for

4 moments, no spoilers.

  • Premiere · the streaming era begins

All Stars moves to Paramount+ (co-billed with WOW Presents Plus internationally), the franchise's first season on its new streaming home. Watch for how a thirteen-queen cast — the largest the format had run to that point — fills the extra room.

  • Mid-season · the stakes tighten

Partway through, the format changes the rules on itself — only the week's challenge winner stays safe, and everyone else becomes vulnerable regardless of how they scored. Watch for the episode where that shift is announced.

  • Elimination stretch · RuDemption begins

A running side ladder starts: each newly eliminated queen faces the reigning RuDemption champion in a lip sync, with a chance to re-enter the main competition. Watch how the ladder builds its own momentum alongside the main game.

  • Judging · a returning-favorite panel

The standard panel of RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, and Ross Mathews anchors the season. Watch how a stable judging chair reads against a cast this size.
