The Milestone.
The milestone was real; what it changed about the format was not.
A rhythm worth tracking.
Season twenty carried the promotional weight of the show's twentieth-season mark. The anniversary framing was visible in ABC's marketing, but the format itself ran without structural change — ten episodes, the standard celebrity-professional pairing structure, weekly eliminations in the familiar competitive shape. The cast covered a reasonable spread of backgrounds, and the choreographic arc played out as the format typically delivers it. As a milestone, the season was noted; as a competitive season, it delivered reliably without distinction.
The #21 slot.
Slot #21 of 34 in the Dancing with the Stars Editor's Canon. The seasons on either side show what I ranked it against.
