Aired fall 2019 · The final season with the Bergeron/Andrews team

Fall 2019

Season twenty-eight closed the Bergeron and Andrews era without announcement. Eleven episodes, a solid competitive field, and a familiar format rhythm that had been the show's signature since season two — and then the era ended.

01The take

Fall 2019.

The last run with the hosts who defined the show's broadcast identity — a clean send-off, unplanned.
02The shape of the season

A rhythm worth tracking.

Season twenty-eight ran eleven episodes with a competitive celebrity cast and the easy, confident Bergeron-Andrews rhythm that had defined the format since season two. Nothing announced itself as a final chapter — it simply ran well and then ended. Only in hindsight does it carry closing weight: the last time the show's broadcast-era identity played out in its complete, familiar form before a full hosting replacement arrived the following year.

03Where it sits in the canon

The #29 slot.

Slot #29 of 34 in the Dancing with the Stars Editor's Canon. The seasons on either side show what I ranked it against.
