01The take
St. Lucia.
The captain transition mid-season changed the format's usual rhythm in ways the show hadn't navigated before.
02The shape of the season
A rhythm worth tracking.
The St. Lucia season is structurally unlike any other Below Deck run. A mid-season captain change — Lee Rosbach commanding the first three episodes and the final four, with Sandy Yawn bridging the bulk — gave the season a shape neither captain fully owns. The Piton-shadowed Caribbean waters offered a lush backdrop. Crew dynamics adjusted around the transition, adding a layer of uncertainty the format doesn't usually carry. Serviceable, but the structural seam shows.
03Where it sits in the canon
The #12 slot.
Slot #12 of 12 in the Below Deck Editor's Canon. The seasons on either side show what I ranked it against.
