The Finale.
The show ends where it started — with Tyra Banks at the helm — and the return is warmer than the VH1 relaunch that preceded it.
A rhythm worth tracking.
Cycle 24 earns its place above the VH1 relaunch on what it restores. Tyra Banks returning as host brings back the mentorship register the show was built around, and the competition runs with more sincerity than cycle 23 managed. The 10-episode format is compact and entirely domestic. It doesn't reach the founding UPN heights, but the finale closes the show's run with more dignity than the relaunch offered.
The #23 slot.
Slot #23 of 24 in the America's Next Top Model Editor's Canon. The seasons on either side show what I ranked it against.
