Aired summer 2021 · Second Patagonia run, northern Argentine wilderness

Northern Patagonia

Season eight returned to Patagonia but pushed north — denser forest, cooler lakes, a new set of survival priorities. The same vast wilderness as season three, but a distinctly different face of it.

01The take

Northern Patagonia.

Patagonia's northern reach proves the biome has more than one register.
02The shape of the season

A rhythm worth tracking.

Northern Patagonia returned to the biome that anchors the canon's top slot while ensuring a genuinely distinct run. The northern Argentine reaches offer different terrain from the southern stretch season three mapped: lush lake country, denser forest, different food sources and shelter demands. Ten survivalists entered a landscape recognizably Patagonian but encountered it without prior Alone precedent. A Colby-era entry that builds on the format's most celebrated location without simply repeating it.

03Where it sits in the canon

The #06 slot.

Slot #06 of 12 in the Alone Editor's Canon. The seasons on either side show what I ranked it against.
